As some of you may have noticed my blog is gaining more and more attention and obviously the resources of the shared hosting provider I’m currently on are quickly outgrowing the amount of traffic coming to this blog. Up until recently I was unaware that a shared hosting company would consider 25,000+ visitors (and growing) per month too much for shared hosting and would recommend moving to their VPS plan. Looking at my logs I do see a large number of HTTP 503 errors now happening which I have to assume is due to the traffic and the fact my current ISP only allows 30-35 simultaneous (concurrent) HTTP connections. Therefore I need to find a new home for this blog and I’m currently looking into a small Linux VPS as an alternative. Ultimately I’d like to work with a VPS provider to have them supply a free VPS and in return I’d allow their advertising on my site to promote their services. Ideally I’d like to have two VPS accounts, one to host this blog and the other to be used for articles in my blog as a test bed, etc. Since my blog is 100% developer orientated content I’m honestly thinking this would be a win-win situation for any VPS service provider and in return I offer a lot of developers whom probably will need their type of services, etc.
My requirements for this blog are simple enough: Linux VPS, WordPress (PHP), and MySQL. In return I’ll make sure your ads are in all my articles and if a second VPS is offered for testing out the articles in my blog I’ll make sure again credit is given, etc. My visitors are essentially 100% software developers with the top countries visiting being: USA (by a large margin), India, and Germany.

Try talking with linode.com, webbynode.com and vps.net.
@aseeon,
Interestingly enough I’m currently awaiting a response from Linode (I’ve used them before and like their setup). I talked to webbynode and they are currently done with their latest sessions of sponsorship. I’m also evaluating Amazon EC2′s new “micro” instance. Thanks for the tip on VPS.NET!
